Verify Google Workspace with a Mixo Domain

Verifying your domain ownership is a crucial step when setting up Google Workspace for your company. This verification process helps Google ensure that you are the rightful owner of the domain and prevents others from using your domain with Google services without your permission.

Below is a guide on how to verify your domain on Google Workspace by adding a CNAME record to your domain’s DNS settings.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Obtain Your Verification Code

1. Log in to Google Workspace Admin: Start by logging into your Google Workspace admin account. Visit admin.google.com.

2. Navigate to Domains Section: Once logged in, go to the Domains section by selecting Domains from the homepage or the menu, then click on Manage domains.

3. Start the Setup: Click on Add/Remove domains and choose to verify your domain. Google Workspace will prompt you to verify your domain if it’s not yet verified.

4. Get the CNAME Verification Details: Follow the instructions provided, and receive a unique verification code. Google will provide this in the form of a CNAME record comprising two parts:

   • Host/Name: A specific string given by Google (e.g., google123456789)
   • Value/Destination: Typically google.com

Step 2: Send us the CNAME record details

Submit a ticket to Mixo (via https://app.mixo.io/support/submit) requesting we add a CNAME to your Mixo domain. Provide us the Host and Value for the CNAME record you collected above.

Step 3: Confirm the Verification with Google

1. Return to Google Workspace Setup: After adding the CNAME record to your domain’s DNS settings, go back to the Google Workspace setup page.

2. Check the Status: Click on Verify or follow the prompt to check the verification status. It might take some time (typically up to an hour) for DNS changes to propagate and for Google to recognize the changes.

3. Completion: Once the domain is verified, Google will display a confirmation message. Your Google Workspace setup can then proceed to the next stages, such as creating user accounts and setting up services.

Additional Tips

• Make sure that your DNS records do not have any typos and that they are fully propagated.
• DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate, though it often happens much quicker.
• If verification fails, double-check the details you entered and ensure there are no spaces or additional characters in the CNAME fields.
