Questions?

Users? Partners? Developers? Huh?

Pardon our terminology! We're always open to suggestions on how we can communicate better. We serve the developer community in a couple ways, so we try to distinguish between the two.

Our users are the folks who pay a small amount per month. Partners make cool web content, and add Premia's one-line-of-code integration to it. Whenever users visit any of our partners' websites, we track how long they spend on the site. Then, we divide up the users' subscription fees and send that to the partners based on how much engagement time there was.

We hope that many of our partners and users can be the same people, developers supporting developers!

Wouldn't it be really inconvenient having to sign into Premia for every site I visit?

That's the best part, you don't have to! Sign up for Premia once, and you only have to log in again if you're using a new device/web browser (or once every year or so). Premia works seamlessly in the background, providing a frictionless, ad-free web experience.

How much does it cost? (as a user)

We're targeting $5/month to start with. But we're open to feedback! We're doing our best to balance keeping the platform accessible to as many people as we can, while still giving back enough to keep our partner websites funded.

How much could I make? (as a partner)

We're not promising to make you the next Jeff Bezos; our goal is to get you enough revenue that you can keeping making the awesome stuff you enjoy making. Premia should bring you revenue comparable to showing a handful of banner ads on your site, but without the ads!

Curious? Try it out, and see how much you can make! Anyone is welcome to integrate Premia into their site. The only requirement is that you don't show ads to Premia users (you're free to show ads to anyone else). If you already don't show ads, then you're good! If you do, it may take a few more lines of code than just the one we provide, but we're happy to work with you on getting that set up.

We're also working on making it easier to integrate into sites with ads, so even ad-funded sites can integrate Premia with one line of code! Check back later on that.

What kinds of sites are a good fit for Premia?

Games, productivity tools, news sites, personality quizzes, blogs, AI chat bots, tutorials, forums, that random thing you threw together last weekend; Premia takes all kinds!

In all seriousness, Premia works best when your costs per user engagement time are low. Serving static text, photos, and front-end code? Absolutely. Processing 3D high-definition video through the latest 10B parameter ML model? Maybe not so much. For everything in between, adding rate limiting for the more expensive operations can help.

But how exactly does the money get split?

We're eagerly accepting feedback from our partners on how we can improve, but this is our current model: we tabulate the splits on a daily basis, per user individually. We take the monthly subscription fee, keep 10% (though we're working to make that even lower!) to keep Premia running, then the other 90% gets divided evenly into a daily amount. If a user doesn't visit any partner sites that day, that daily amount is added to a pool which is donated to support open source community efforts. If a user does visit at least one partner site, we split the daily amount between the partners, weighted by how long the user spent on each site (2 hours on site A and 1 hour on site B means site A gets 2/3 of the daily amount and site B gets 1/3).

[...] ADS SUCK - Larry Page

Meet the Dev

Hey! I'm Adam, and I'm making Premia because I wanted a better way to keep sites running sustainably without ads, selling data, or the piecemeal pay-to-play subscription structure so much of the web is coming to rely on. I grew up making websites and little hobby projects for fun, to share a part of me with the world. With Premia, I hope to grow a network of developers who want to support their fellow developers and create a better experience on the web.
